I am going to confess a deep dark secret today. I have to get it off my chest. This is not for the faint of heart. You have been warned. Here goes:
I really really really want to run over people who collect money for their various charities at busy intersections. I should clarify that. I don’t want to kill anyone, but I want to run over their toes just to teach them a valuable lesson.
I don’t know how widespread this phenomenon is, but it’s common practice here in Louisville. They set up orange cones in the middle of four lanes of traffic. Sometimes the charity workers stand in between the cones to collect money. Sometimes they just spread themselves out in the street so that it’s nearly impossible not to hit at least one of them. This serves to slow down traffic to a crawl.
It also makes me wonder about the legality of accidentally (on purpose) bumping one of them ever so gently with my car.
Seriously though, am I legally responsible for the accident if I slow down to 10mph even though the speed limit is 45mph and if I make an effort not to hit any of these lunatics who obviously have a death wish?
I believe in charity, and I’m sure that people who are spending a Saturday collecting donations must have their hearts in the right place. I just wish their butts were in the right place too.
I wonder if they are allowed to do collecting in the mall? We need to find another place for these people to solicit donations.
I don’t want to be sued by someone who threw himself in front of my car. That’s what it boils down to.
So, any lawyers out there willing to back me up on this one? I don’t have any cash, but it’s for a good cause.
I think we all agree on this one. The corner at sheelyville Rd there ( I think its shellyville rd and hurstborn) is terrible. Everytime we come out that way they are collecting for something. I guess they must do pretty good there. Steve always says not to give anything to them it just encourage’s them. I really think it should be against the law.
LOve you lots. MOM
Also remember when you are running over the toes or what ever else you get, that the money collected is 75% of the time used for animal testing. So run them over for me too and for all the puppies and cats.
Is a six mile traffic jam worth a quarter?
In the woods of Pennsylvania there is a route commonly known as 209. Every once in a while, this route mysteriously splits into 209 and 209 business to separate the local traffic from the through traffic. And, at each of…
