When You Can Snatch This Pencil From My Hand…

My daughter (9) was hurriedly writing a paper for school last night. I looked over her shoulder and noticed it was looking oh so messy.

I said, “Charlotte, why is one word of your title normal size while the other is huge? And, why do I not see capitals in your title or beginning your sentences?”

Long pause.

Then came her glowing, perfect response, “This is just my first draft, Mom. I wasn’t gonna turn this in.”

Good save, Grasshopper. Good save.

  • Pencil? Oh, those sharp wooden sticks that scrape black stuff onto large rectangular pulp-based tablets? How…neanderthal! 🙂 But yeah, I type too much. My hand hurts even after a few minutes holding a writing instrument.
